Next Gen Herefords & Irish Hereford Prime entered the second year of the Irish Hereford Charity Calf Rearing Program which was set up to encourage young people to rear calves on their home farms with the added aim of raising money for charity.

Each of the participants did a stand out job in rearing their calves and getting them ready for sale. The calves were also shown off during the Next Gen Herefords Youth Competition and National Hereford Calf Show 2022 and they were a credit to each of their young handlers. In 2023, the majority of the Hereford cross steers were sold at a live auction with full proceeds being donated to a charity of the young breeders choice.

Rocco was the first to leave home at Clonroe Herefords when he was sold at Carnew Mart during the Summer for €1600. This HEX bullock weighed in at 490kgs & sold at auction with the proceeds going towards North Wexford Hospice!

Congratulations to Ciaran Kinahan who sold Harry the Hereford cross bullock in GVM Tullamore with full proceeds of €1400 being donated to hooves4hospice!

Well done to Lisgoagh Herefords on selling their Hereford bullocks in aid of LA519 at Ballybay Livestock sales. These Hereford cross pair sold for €1840 after weighing in at 590kgs.

The sky’s the limit in Elphin.

Frank the Hereford stopped the show at Elphin Co-Operative Livestock Mart – selling for a phenomenal €2,000 in aid of Elphin Day Centre, with a further €100 donated!

Buddy & Dan were auctioned in Newport Livestock Mart as part of the Newport Annual Commercial Hereford sale & were purchased for €1,470 each by Irish Hereford Prime.

Full proceeds will be donated to Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation & Kildimo National School! Congratulations to John Cregan & Conor O’Rourke for doing a great job rearing these bullocks! A word of thanks also to Irish Hereford Prime for supporting this sale.

Elisa & Tara Drumm’s steer, Logan, had a very busy & social Summer when he was exhibited at summer shows. Logan won the commercial class at Arva Show 2023.

Congratulations to Glenn & Anna Jacob of Dunsinane Herefords who sold Hereford Cross Bullock, Pat, in Enniscorthy Mart during on 21st February for a phenomenal €2,520 after weighing 690kg on the day!

Congratulations to Kian & Paul Bohan who had sold their Hereford Cross Bullock, Dozer, on Saturday 4th May in Aurivo Livestock Mart Mohill for €3220 after weighting in at 760kg . The money will be going to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland Leitrim Branch! An astounding success – well done the brothers for rearing a smashing bullock & fair play to the community on Mohill for supporting this worthy cause!

Another fantastic price with full proceeds being donated to North West STOP-Suicide Prevention – another very worthy charity!
