The Irish Hereford Data Recording Programme

The IHBS Council are looking for 20 Pedigree Registered Hereford breeders to join a programme to record on farm data & improve Hereford figures within the ICBF evaluations.

This programme is being established as a stepping stone to improve Hereford calving ease & gestation figures – to better promote the breed within the dairy herd while also breeding potential AI sires for future markets.

The conditions to join the programme include:

  • Breeder must have at least 15 Pedigree Registered Hereford Cows
  • Cows may be Horned or Homozygous Polled
  • Stock bull or AI can be used on farm
  • Serve dates by stock bull and AI must be recorded accurately with ICBF
  • Calving dates and information must be recorded accurately with ICBF
  • Weights must be recorded of all calves at birth & at 200 days of age
  • Advice on genetics will be offered where sought

There will be an information evening held soon where breeders interested in getting involved can raise queries and learn more about what’s involved. This meeting will also involve an informative piece from an AHI representative about herd health issues and in particular IBR.

If this is something that you are interested in participating in – please email info@irishhereford.com.
