The Irish Hereford Breed Society Breed have added an Australian bred Polled Hereford to the Breed Improvement Scheme. The Ranch Remington R028, is Homozygous Polled.
Remington was the Grand Champion Bull at the 2022 National Show & Sale in Dubbo, and went on to sell for a centre record of $120,000 AUSD.
One of most exciting features of this bull is that he is the first son of New Zealand sire Koanui Techno 3062 to have semen available in Europe. Techno has 1000 registered progeny in Australia alone, with his growth and milk EBVs all in the Top 1% of the breed and all with 96% accuracy or higher. His sons have averaged over $50,000 at both Mawarra and Injemira. Techno has been the go to sire in Australia and New Zealand for increasing maternal traits while improving weight traits.
Remingtons’ Australian EBVs are top 5% for milk and scrotal size, top 10% for all carcass and day weights and breed average for calving. All traits between 60 and 70% accurate. His is ICBF milk figure is currently 15kgs.
