Longford Show - 7th July 2024

July 7th showcased Longford’s Annual Agricultural show. The good weather attracted a great crowd of spectators and participants to the Hereford ring. On the day, Nigel Heatrick, kindly judged the Hereford classes. The Paul and Vincent Heifer calf Championship was won by Michael Molloy and his Moyclare Dowager 2. This September 2023 heifer was sired by Casilean Jake and dam Dieulacresse Dowager55th. Reserve went to T and A Fitzgerald with their Grianan Orange B 009, This heifer was sired by Rossmore Rocky Balboa and dam Grianan Orange R 809. The Paul and Vincent Champion Bull calf was won by the Fitzgerald family with theirGrianan Batman. This September 2023 bull was sired by Rossmore Rocky Balboa anddam Grianan Orange T 864. Reserve went to Kilsunny Vegas, owned and bred by Trevor Dudley, sired by Yarram Pompeiii V055 and dam Kilsunny Lass Olympia. The luck was with the Larkin family at the Longford show. Jack Larkins Hillockpoll1 Ivy, this 2021 cow captured the judge’s eye on the day. Sired by Normanton 1Laertes ET and dam Hillockpoll 1 Ann. The success of the Fitzgerald family continued, as Grianan Batman captured the reserve. The young handlers put on agreat display for Alan Gibbons as they showcased a great display of young breeders in the area. Congratulations to all involved and we hope to continue to see them throughout the showing season.
