The Flavour of Fingal show was held on Saturday 2nd of July. Now in it’s 10th year, the numbers were low in all breeds but great credit is due to the Show committee as they gave a fuel contribution to all exhibitors which was greatly appreciated this year more than ever. Judging the Hereford cattle classes was Mr. Pat Sheehy.
There were new breeders from the local area showing animals this year also which was nice to see.

Well done to all the exhibitors – an enjoyable day was had by all!
The Charleville Show was held on Saturday 25th June. The annual show was held on their own showgrounds as usual and saw a large entry of Hereford cattle – the largest entry of cattle across all breeders.
Back to the showring to judge after the enforced halt caused by covid-19 was Mr. John Holloway from Gageboro Herefords. Mr. Holloway judged the cattle classes with great detail and spoke at the end to describe his deliberations. Mr. Conor O’Leary was also drafted in for the day to judge the Young Handler classes. Maybe the toughest job of the day but Mr. O’Leary was very fair with the young handlers and gave the very talented groups a good chance to show off their skills
Classes & Championships;
The Muster Hereford branch hosted the Munster Hereford Heifer of the year 2022 and the Munster Hereford Bull of the year 2022 Championships at the show in place of the points based championship that was ran in previous years.
In total there were 16 Hereford classes on the day including the championships and two stand alone young handler classes which saw over 15 young people participating.
The Breeders Choice 4* & 5* Star heifer class was also held on the day & Michael O’Keeffe won 1st prize after also winning 1st prize at Cork Summer Show the previous week.
