The Irish Hereford Breed Society and the North Leinster Hereford Branch are delighted to be able to host the National Hereford Calf Show 2022 on Saturday 19th November in GVM Tullamore at 9.30am.

Pease note changes have been made to the ages of the classes

Online entries only:

Entries this year will be fully online using the same system as last year. Entries open on Wednesday 5th October and will close at midnight on Friday 11th November. Entries can only be submitted via this link; https://itsplainsailing.com/org/ihbs#event-33291

Classes/Prizes & Entry Fee:

Class 1: Heifer calf born on or between 1st September & 31st October 2021.

Class 2: Heifer calf born on or between 1st November & 31st December 2021.

Class 3: Heifer calf born on or between 1st January & 28th February 2022.

Class 4: Heifer calf born on or between 1st March & 30th April 2022.

Class 5: Heifer calf of the future born from May 1st 2022 onwards.

Senior Female Champion – Class1 & 2.

Junior Female Champion – Classes 3, 4 & 5.

Overall Female Champion.

Class 6: Dairy Beef Index Class consisting of the Highest DBI merit Genotyped bulls entered in the show. Automatic entry.

Class 7: Commercial Hereford sired calf, male or female not weighing over 450kg on the day of show. (Prize money: 1st – €200 2nd – €120, 3rd – €80, 4th – €50, 5th – €50)

Class 8: Bull calf born on or between 1st September & 31st October 2021.

Class 9: Bull calf born on or between 1st November & 31st December 2021.

Class 10: Bull calf born on or between 1st January & 28th February 2022.

Class 11: Bull calf born on or between 1st March & 30th April 2022.

Class 12: Bull calf of the future born from May 1st 2022 onwards.

Senior Male Champion – Classes 8 & 9.

Junior Male Champion – Classes 10, 11 & 12.

Overall Male Champion.

Prizes for classes 1 – 5 & 8 – 12 as follows: 1st– €120, 2nd – €80, 3rd – €50, 4th – €25, 5th – €25. Entry fee: €15

Rules:

All animals entered will be weighed on the morning of the show;
Pedigree heifers in excess of 1.5kg/day + 40 kg birth weight and
bulls in excess of 1.7 kg/day + 45 kg birth weight are not eligible for showing on the day

Commercial calves over 450kgs on the day are not eligible for showing and must have HE or HEX on their Card.
