Young Handler Classes at the Royal Meath Show – Trim!

Next Gen Herefords are teaming up with the Royal Meath Show in Trim on Sunday 4th September to host a Young Handler class.

This is the first year that a dedicated Hereford Young Handler class will be held at the show and it hopes to be the start of a tradition that can be built on year on year.

To begin with – there will be just one Young Handler class for all young handlers aged 21 years old and younger on show day. The hope is that there will be demand for two classes on the day – a Junior class and a Senior Class – this will be decided when entries close on the day of the show.

Anyone interested can enter completing the online application form via this link: Young Handler Online Application Form! Competitors are also welcome to enter on the day also.

Each competitor will receive a rosette & plaque and the overall winner will receive a voucher which can be used towards a number of items including towards the purchase of a Hereford animal at a Society sale and/or the upcoming Genetics Gems Sale in November, IHBS Breed Improvement straws or The Farm Wardrobe Merchandise.

Cattle Classes

There are also a varied selection of Hereford cattle classes at the show this year with a class to suit nearly every animal.

The All Ireland Young Stockpersons Competition

The Royal Meath Show is also playing host this year to the finals of the All Ireland Young Stockpersons Competition for the Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories.

This has been an exciting competition that has taken place all Summer across several Summer shows with young people bidding to qualify over several weekends. The competition will be nearly an all-day event with several sections of competition for the competitors to complete before the the winners are announced that evening.
