2022 Hereford Photo & Calendar Competition!

The Irish Hereford Breed Society & Irish Hereford Prime are delighted to launch their 3rd Annual 2022 Hereford Photo & Calendar Competition.

The competition has been a great success over the last two years with a large number of entries of great photos submitted. The shortlisted entries will once again be put forward for a public vote on the IHBS Facebook page and also they will be compiled into a calendar which will go on sale later this year in aid of Hooves4Hospice.

There has been changes made to the categories this year for entry to ensure there’s a class for every Hereford while including other relevant categories.

Categories for Competition;

  • Herefords – The Natural Choice – Pedigree Hereford animals – all cows, heifers, bulls, calves accepted.
  • The HEX Factor – Hereford cross cattle (Male or Female) in their natural environment.
  • Prime Beef – Best photo of cooked or fresh Hereford beef suitable for any occasion.
  • Hereford an Environmentally Sustainable Breed –Best photo showing how our Hereford farmers look after the environment and make significant contributions to biodiversity.

Terms & Conditions

  1. This photography competition is open to everyone who can take a good photo.

  3. All photos must be uploaded by midnight on the 2nd September 2022 using this link

  4. All entrants must provide the following details when uploading their entry: name; address; email
    address; phone number. All photo entries must include a caption.
  5. Junior applicants (Under 18) must provide parental permission when uploading their entry.
  6. All photos must be submitted by the photographer or with written permission from the
    photographer.
  7. All entrants acknowledge and consent that any photos entered in the 2022 Hereford photo
    competition may be used for the purposes of displaying entries. Entries will be published on
    https://irishhereford.com and https://www.irishherefordprime.com/ and respective social
    media channels.
  8. All entrants acknowledge and consent that any photos entered in the 2022 Hereford photo
    competition may be used at a later stage for purposes of promoting the Hereford Breed.
  9. An independent judge will shortlist the submitted entries in each category. These shortlisted photos will be available for the public to vote online from 9th September 2022 until 10am on 16th September 2022 on the Irish Hereford Breed Society Facebook page

  10. All shortlisted entries will then be put forward to compile a Hereford Calendar 2023 which will go
    on sale in aid of ‘Hooves 4 Hospice’ charity – each entrant will be asked to give written permission for the inclusion of their photo in the calendar and also submit the original photo to the society
    via email.
  11. No canvassing will be permitted during the shortlisting process and all decisions will be final
  12. Each entrant may submit a maximum of two photos per category.
  13. All entries will be judged primarily on the photo quality and not just the cattle. Although good
    Herefords are always a winner!
  14. Closing date for entries is midnight on the 2nd September 2022

Prizes

  • 1st and 2nd place winners will be awarded in each category to the value of: (1st €250 & 2nd €150) – a choice of:

SuperValu voucher

or

Farm Wardrobe voucher

  • One prize will be awarded to the overall Winner – Overall winning cash prize of €500
