Hereford cross calves have remained one of the strong favourites in Irish marts this Spring and demand once again surged last week.

In Waterford Ross mart last Saturday, Hereford bull calves made from €120 upto €460 and Hereford heifers sold from €100 upto €285. For Hereford calves to make €460 at this stage of the year is a very good sign of the demand and saleability of these white head calves, especially when the tops received for continental calves was just €465 in comparison.

Herefords also saw a big lift in in Enniscorthy when Hereford bulls sold for a top price of €375. Hereford heifers sold for upto €315.
