Next Gen Herefords are hosting and part hosting two grooming and show preparation demonstration days ahead of the upcoming show season.
Workshop 1:
The first workshop will be held on the farm of Tullaha Herefords, Charleville, Co. Limerick on Sunday May 1st at 10:30am.
Agenda:
The agenda for the day will mainly focus on cattle grooming and general preparation for the shows. The day will begin with a grooming and clipping demonstration followed by a hands on workshop for all young handlers to groom and prepare an animal for showing.
There will then be a session on making halters, ringcraft, handling cattle and how to present yourself as an exhibitor in the show ring.
We are delighted that Mr. Garett Behan from Clonagh Simmentals in Laois will be joining us to give demonstrations and share his experience and knowledge of showing cattle.
After lunch there will be a session on health and safety and how to stay safe when handling cattle.
The day will close with a tour of Tullaha Herefords by Tommy & Maura Cregan and a look at the farm and the stock the family are currently farming.
Animal Pharmacy may also be on site during the day to showcase the various grooming products that are available and widely used for shows.
We ask that all young persons please register in advance of the workshop to ensure we have enough resources for everyone. Entries are now open and can be completed online via this link;

Workshop 2:
The second workshop will be held on Sunday May 29th in the Virginia Show Centre in Cavan, in conjunction with several other breeds including; Limousin, Angus, Simmental and some sheep breeds also.

The day will kick off with a grooming and show preparation demonstration by Mr. Mark Reid and Mr. Alan Shortt. Bartley Finnegan will also be on hand with cattle grooming and showing supplies.
Ms. Tara Fitzsimons, Teagasc Grange, will also attend on the day to give a presentation on the Agricultural courses available in local agricultural colleges along with a representative from UCD.
The start time, full agenda and details of how to register will be confirmed later this month.
All welcome
All are welcome to attend both days and we want to encourage as many young people are possible to come along and join in. Next Gen Herefords are working behind the scenes to ensure both days are a great success and most importantly enjoyable for everyone taking part.
