The Premier Hereford Spring Show & Sale will be held in GVM Tullamore on Saturday 26th March. The sale will follow the long – standing format as pre-covid times with the show beginning at 11am followed by the sale at 1pm. Bidding is also available via LSL auctions. Buyers must register with GVM Tullamore in advance of the sale – Tel: (067) 31360.
Pre-inspections & Catalogue
This year marks the first year of on-farm pre-inspections for the Premier sales. Inspections were carried out by Mr. John Beirne and Mr. Clive Jennings, two to three weeks in advance of the sale. The inspections are now finished and the catalogue has been finalised and is available here;
There will be 45 bulls & 10 heifers for auction on the day. Of the 45 bulls;
- 86% are rated 4/5 Star on the Terminal or Replacement index
- 73% are rated 4/5 Star for Carcase Weight or Carcase Conformation
- 82% are above breed average on the Dairy Beef Index
There will be no inspection or weigh in on the morning of the sale. Any bull not sold on the day is welcome to re-enter Kilmallock that day or by Monday 28th March.

Judging
We are delighted to welcome Mr. William McMordie of Solpoll Herefords, Co. Down to Tullamore the judge the Bull classes and thank him for taking on the task. There will be no heifer classes on the day.
Newly appointed auctioneer
We also welcome the newly appointed society auctioneer for 2022; Mr. Eamonn Gaffney. Eamonn auctioneers weekly in GVM Carrigallen and has worked at several Pedigree cattle sales and the Winter Fair in Carrick-on-Shannon. We wish Eamonn the very best of luck and look forward to him accepting his first bids at the Premier Sale.
Irish Hereford Prime sponsorship
Irish Hereford Prime will once again support the IHBS sales this Spring. They are sponsoring €250 towards each bull sold over €3000 & over at the Premier Sale and will sponsor €200 towards each bull sold for €2800 and over in Kilmallock, Nenagh & Bandon.
Irish Red Cross / Ukraine Crisis Appeal
The Irish Hereford Breed Society have committed to donating the commission from the Premier Hereford sale to the Irish Red Cross/Ukraine Crisis Appeal. There will also be an iDonate funding page set up in the coming days and a link to this page will be text out to the membership along with being available on the website and social media channels. There will also be collection buckets on the day of the sale.
