Gurteragh and Drominarigle Hereford Production Sale 2021

Michael O’Keeffe of Gurteragh Horned & Drominarigle Polled Hereford Herd will hold a production sale in Kanturk mart on Saturday 5th June at 1pm.

There will be over 40 lots of Pedigree females & embryos for sale on the day – perfect to enhance any existing pedigree Hereford herd or ideal for a start-up herd!

The Gurteragh Horned and Drominarigle Polled Hereford herd was established in 1996 with the purchase of females from Irish breeders. Michael decided in 2015 to hold a sale of females. All cattle under 10 yrs of age were offered for sale. This consisted of 100 females. It turned out to be a wonderful sale, way beyond Michael’s expectations. After that sale, Michael had 10 old cows that had bred well and he decided to do some embryo work on some of them. Though Michael gets great enjoyment out of breeding pedigree Hereford cattle, with numbers in the herd rising he has made the decision to offer 40 females of various ages for sale.Being a member of the BDGP scheme means that he is not permitted to sell a cow and calf if the calf is under 5 months of age without being penalised, therefore, any cow or heifer that has calved since the 1st of January 2021 is not in the sale. All autumn calving cows are for sale along with all 2019 born in-calf heifers and 2020 born heifers.

The catalogue is available HERE or by contacting Michael direct on 087 9253369. All stock can be viewed on farm by contacting Michael on the same number.

Bidding online will be available on the day via LSL Auctions – buyers must register with Kanturk Mart in advance of the sale by contacting – Tel: (029) 50081.

Michael would like to wish all purchasers the very best of luck.
