Premier Autumn Show & Sale 2019 – Tullamore

There was a large entry of 41 bulls and 25 heifers for the Premier Hereford Autumn Show & sale which was held in GVM Tullamore last Saturday 19th October. Judging these large classes was no easy task for judge Albert De Cogan, who executed the task flawlessly. There were some very strong bulls & top heifers presented on the day. Although a small sell rate, over 50% of bulls sold for over €3000 leaving the average price €3060. This was very much a breeder focused sale which is a healthy sign for the breed going forward as quality bloodlines were bought to enhance and sustain Hereford herds. Irish Hereford Prime kindly sponsored €200 to the 5 highest priced bulls sold on the day which proved a great support to breeders.

‘Balleen Wayfair’ topped the sale making €4000 for breeder Tom Brennan, owner of the long established Balleen herd in Freshford, Co. Kilkenny. ‘Wayfair’ is bred from ‘Balleen Maeve 785 Et’ and sired by ‘Towra Brilliant’ who also sired Kilmallock Champion 2018 ‘Baleen Banjo’ who sold for €4000 during that sale & also sired Kilmallock Champion 2017.
