Travel Bursary Interview at the NPC 2019.

All roads lead to Carlow next week to the 88th National Ploughing Championships on Tuesday 17th, Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th September. This is a major event in the Irish Agricultural calendar with hundreds of thousands of visitors expected to attend over the 3 days.

This will also be a busy event for our 10 bursary finalists who are onto the last stage of the competition for a place on a team of 4 Young Hereford breeders who will compete in the Young Handlers Competition at the World Hereford Conference in New Zealand in March 2020. The 10 finalist have been showing Hereford cattle at Irish Agricultural shows over the passed few weeks since they attended the cattle showing & judging workshop. Each candidate showed stock at an Agricultural show of their choice including; Nenagh, Tullamore, Ballygarvan, Trim & Strokestown. Each of the 10 finalists showcased their talent & flare for showing cattle at these shows with great enthusiasm & competence.

The final stage for the 10 candidates is an 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 at the National Ploughing Championships on 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝟏𝟏.𝟑𝟎𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝: 𝟏𝟗𝟎 with 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐲, 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐚 𝐧𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐞.

The society are delighted to have Thomas conducting the interviews as he is a prominent face and voice for the Young Farmers of Ireland and has a keen passion as well as a wealth of knowledge and experience in Irish and World Agriculture. Thomas is dedicated to the sustainability of the industry in Ireland and is doing great work both at home and abroad on behalf of Irish Young Farmers.

The society would like to congratulate each candidate on their success to date & wish them the very best in the interviews at the NPC. The winners will be announced at the National Ploughing Championships on Wednesday 18th September at 3pm at the Hereford Stand 190.
