Limerick Agricultural Show was held at Limerick Racecourse on Sunday last 25th August in the start of the Autumn Sunshine. Well done to all Hereford exhibitors who turned out for one of the few remaining shows of the season. Huge Congratulations to Gerry McNamara & family on winning Overall Hereford Champion, yet again, with ‘Churchcross Hurler’. There was also a Pedigree Replacement Index class which was open to all Pedigree cattle, both male and female of all ages. 40% of the marks was allocated for for judging in the ring and 60% of the marks were allocated for Replacement Index. There was very generous prize money available for this class; 1st = 250€, 2nd =150€, 3rd = 100€ and 4th to 7th = €50 each. 3rd place was awarded to ‘Churcross hurler’ among Limousin, Simmental & Shorthorn cattle placing 1st to 7th. Placing 3rd in this class was a great achievement for the Hereford Young bull in such a dominant continental class.
