Newcastle West held their annual Agricultural show last Sunday 21st July 2019. There were very good classes for Pedigree Herefords and all were judged by the very capable Aidan Farrell, Westmeath.
Churchcross Hereford herd, Co. Clare, have come out on top once again this Summer. Supreme heifer, ‘Churchcross Myrtle’, bred by Gerry McNamara and family and exhibited by Paula Mc Namara, secured overall Champion on they day. ‘Myrtle’ also won 1st prize in both Co. Clare Agricultural show on 14th July and in Longford show on Sunday 7th July.
Once again, ‘Churchcross Hurler’ came out in force to win Reserve Champion and top the class; Hereford Male Calf born on or after 1st July 2018. This superb bull has been busy in the Winners enclosure this Summer, winning Overall Hereford Champion at both Charleville Show and at Longford Show along with securing 1st place Junior male Champion at Gorey Agricultural Show.
The days success for the McNamara family did not end there as ‘Churchcross Petulla went on to win 1st place in the class Hereford Heifer born between 1st July 2017 & 20th June 2018.
Many congratulations to Churchcross Herefords, who are going from strength to strength at this Summer’s Agricultural shows and we wish them continued success.
