Flying Trade for Hereford Bulls at GVM Kilmallock

Breeders and Buyers were both very well pleased with the day at the IHBS Annual April Show & Sale at GVM, Kilmallock.

What a day what a clearance. The day’s top price was €3,850 with an 85% Clearance and €2,485 average.

Three of the five bulls missed were the youngest at the sale and were possibly lacking the maturity required on the day.

Monaghan breeders Sam and Nigel Heatrick travelled the long journey with their Glaslough Tyson and sold at €2,700.

Some earlier sales were more mixed with many purchasers just not ready to buy. Thursday’s sale was a clear indication that the breeding season is gearing up and that the Hereford calf price advantage, extra weight at slaughter and Certified Hereford beef bonuses are factors in choosing Hereford.
