One of the newer shows to the summer circuit, the non-profit agricultural show in Dualla, just outside Cashel in South Tipperary took place yesterday Sunday 26th August. Now in its 5th year and going from strength to strength each season, the show attracted a tremendous line-up of cattle despite the inclement weather. Judge Mr. Michael Smith, a well-known pedigree cattle breeder from Cootehill in Co. Cavan judged the Hereford classes and was extremely complimentary about his first trip to Dualla.
The supreme Hereford breed championship was awarded to the winner of the bull calf class, Kilsunny Ozzy exhibited by Trevor Dudley & Family, Kilsunny House, Dovea, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. This young bull has enjoyed a stellar summer season and had previously won the €1000 Premier Bull Calf Championship at Nenagh, the 2018 Munster Junior Bull of the Year title and the overall junior championship at Clonmel and Dungarvan shows. After several major titles in the junior sections over the summer, Dualla marked the first supreme breed championship for this quality young bull and ensured the supreme championships from both Iverk & Dualla (held over the same weekend) went to Kilsunny Herefords.Hereford Champion ‘Kilsunny Ozzy’
The Kilsunny herd also claimed the reserve Hereford championship with their senior heifer, Kilsunny Lass Nectar. No stranger to success, this heifer won the supreme championship at Clonmel, Ossory & Dungarvan as well as taking 1st prize wins at Gorey and Nenagh but had to settle for the runner-up spot to herdmate Kilsunny Ozzy on this occasion.Reserve Hereford Champion ‘Kilsunny Lass Nectar’
Kilsunny Herefords took a further three 1st prize wins in the Hereford section with their senior heifer calf, Kilsunny Lass Orchid, junior heifer calf, Kilsunny Doreen’s Omega and senior cow, Kilsunny Doreen’s Jasmin all taking red tickets on the day. Local exhibitors Veronica Brennan & Ray Hunt from Dualla, Cashel, Co. Tipperary won the junior bull calf class with Herberry 1 Euro, a very stylish bull that also performed well in Clonmel, winning the January 2018 class.
