Cracker at Nenagh delivers a €5,000 Record price for the Venue.

Two Freetown Hotspur sons exhibited by Roscommon man Padraig McGrath, Elphin topped the Irish Hereford Society’s final spring sale of the season at Nenagh today.

Kye Hulk 706 out of a Churchill Storm daughter Kye Sorcha 4th set a new record at Nenagh when Hereford breeder James Thompson, ‘Ballyraggan’, Rathvilly, Carlow made the final bid of €5,000 to secure the yearling bull as a herd sire.

The day’s second highest price also went to the same stable when Mr McGrath’s Kye Hotspur 708 this time out of Kye Sheila 603 a Bowmont Storm A584 daughter sold to Strokestown breeder Michael Conroy on a bid of €4,300.

Other principal prices included Sandra Bogan’s Millbawn Atticus a Mawarra Sentimental son at €3,000 to Con Howard, Ballymackey, Nenagh and Rory Farrell’s Ballinveney Rambo a Ballinveney Nigel son to Cornelius McCarthy, Skibbereen at a further €3,000.

The Champion shown by Society President John Neenan unfortunately failed to reach his reserve and was withdrawn.

There was an excellent clearance of 85% with a sale averaged €2,850
