The West Cork Hereford Club very pleased with its spring calf promotion to date. At promotions held so far members of the Club including Pat McCarthy, John Lynch, Christy Mullins and Gene Lynch spent a number of hours engaging with and chatting to farmers about their farming enterprise and distributing information leaflets on the breed and pointing out the Hereford advantage. Many farmers are already well aware of the pluses of using Hereford while others who have used other breeds are observing the higher Hereford calf price and the additional weight advantage at a given age.

Gene Lynch and Paddy Hickey were entrusted with the judging at Bandon while John Lynch and Stephen White with William O’Brien did the calf selection at Skibbereen. John Kingston, Ciara White and Pat McCarthy were entrusted with meeting with and talking to producers during the morning. With 400 calves at Skibbereen and a massive 1,400 at Bandon the lads were glad to hear the lunch bell call.
