Dernaroy 1 Impact a son of Lowesmore 1 Entertainer bred at Dernaroy, Newbliss, Co Monaghan by well-known Hereford breeder Eric Humphreys came through stiff competition to share the prestigious Stock Bull of the Year Award with Richmount 1 King Kong a NI bred bull from James Graham, Richmount Road, Portadown, Co Armagh.

The three years old bull was purchased last year by Stephen Baxter, Umgola Herefords, Tarascon House, Monaghan Road, Co Armagh. The award winning Polled Hereford is out of a homebred cow Dernaroy 1 Emma herself sired by Australian sire Yalgoo Boulder and tracing back on the dam’s side to the Udel herd of David & Daithi Carroll, Coole Campile, Co Wexford and the Denn herd of Stanley Heaslip, Glebe House, Carrickaboy, Co Cavan.

Both breeder and owner were delighted with the award. The bull has developed very well, is long bodied with roundness of quarter and an excellent topline with exceptional muscling.
