The North Leinster Hereford Branch commenced their 2014 summer show season at the Co. Louth Agricultural Show held at Bellurgan Park on Sunday the 15th of June in ideal weather conditions. A select entry of Herefords were present, judged by N.I. Hereford breeder Mr Alwyn Armour.
After a short deliberation Mr Armour selected September 2013 born Knockmountagh Master as his champion from local breeders Eamon & John McKiernan. Master is sired by the former RDS Champion of Champions and National Hereford Show Supreme Champion Grianan Firecracker and out of Knockmountagh Carmel.

The days Reserve Champion was Ardmulchan Clover 410 bred by Philip Smyth Co.Meath. This 8 month old heifer calf is the first of Grianan Emperor’s progeny at Ardmulchan, which look very promising.

Co.Meath breeders Val Ledwith and Seamus O’Neill also exhibited prizewinners on the day. Although the entry of Herefords was small, there was plenty of quality stock on show, and we look forward to an increased entry at the 2015 Co.Louth show and other upcoming shows across the region this season
